Description |
On the left is the American Insurance Union Auditorium which opened in 1905; on the right is the Colonial Theater, opened January 11, 1909. All buildings on the block were razed in September 1924 for the construction of the A. I. U. Citadel. Notes Opened in 1927, the A.I.U. Citadel became known as the Lincoln-LeVeque Tower, having been purchased by John Lincoln and Leslie L. LeVeque in 1945; it was renamed LeVeque Tower in 1977. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 and was once the fifth tallest building in the United States. |
